Drinking game: Take a drink every time the word "psychedelic" appears in this list.  Not only did some of the most well-regarded albums of the psychedelic era come out this year (e.g. Sgt. Pepper, Forever Changes), but the style had some influence on artists you wouldn't normally associate with it (Rolling Stones, Bee Gees).
